Drag Racing and 4/6 Drop

Got a buddy with a 99-02 RCSB Sierra stepside wanting to drop his truck 4/6. He wants the truck for drag racing and doesnt really care if its all draged out. He wants to know what suspension setup is best for drag racing and should he go with less of a drop for best results?
Right now the suspension is all stock. Motor is a built 5.3L with cam for nitrous, built 4l60e, built rear end. Hes going to probably get a 408 for nitrous and another built tranny n rearend.

well you want something that will be transfer like stock. Obviously a 4link with coilovers or similar setup would be best, but we all can't blow 2-3 grand on a rear setup.
You want something that won't change your geometry or suspension travel. Running control arms and a flip kit won't change anything with your stock setup. All it does is angle the control arms to achieve a 4" drop, and a flip kit does just that, it flips the leaf springs under the axle.

i dont think the 4/6 will be hurting him, but if he wants to go wiht less drop, id say a spindle/shackle/hangar-2/4 drop with some caltracs and qa1 shocks would work great, but thats just specualtion

I hava a 4/6 on mine. Rear: 6" flip kit, helper springs (basically clamped springs), Air shocks. Front: spindles/coils.
The best I've got has been a 1.74 60' on motor with 26's and 27's and 1.65 on spray with Hoosiers 28's. Going with Caltracs and have to check on shocks. This should help me get out of the hole and not break the tires loose everytime the truck unloads.

I had a 4/6 drop on mine and the right side rear lower shock mount would either loosen up or break constantly. when it did, it was bad wheel hop. Ditched that for the airride but haven't been back to the track yet for 60ft.
