Post Do you use silicone or a gasket for your rear diff?

the rear diff has a slight leak so im going to be redoing it. the last time i did it i used the gasket and siicone. some have said just use silicone.
what do you use?
If you use silicone, how long do u let it sit before adding the lubricant?

spread it evenly on the cover and put it on, I usually only give it a few minutes before putting the cover on, never had an issue

I prefer to use a factory gasket. Whatever you do never use both. Also make sure there is no fluid leaking onto the sealing surface before you get the cover up.

This ^^^ There's no reason to run sillycone on a gasket EVER if it's properly installed.
