The upper brackets need to be welded in. Since you're gonna have to weld anyways, why not make your own brackets? There has to be somebody near you that can help.

There's really not very much to them. Some 3/16" plate is cheap.

I would have never thought that you could fit a coilover in these torsion bar trucks, without ditching the 4WD.

I now refuse to spend any money on the suspension of my truck until I can afford Fox emulsion coilovers.

Been following this for a while, just curious to see if anyone has actually tried the HD arms against the standard arms..

I'd like a reasonable option for installing coil-overs in the front, wondering if anyone has found a way to bypass the 'clevis' style required by the OEM setup pictured in this thread.

Anyone ? Anyone ??

Thanks in advance,

My truck had approximately 1450 on the fronts and 900 on the rears.

any idea of the length of the stock front shock at ride height?

that length, (adjusted according to how much drop or lift you want) plus 40% for the ideal extended coilover length. and compressed coilover length should be 60% of the istalled shock length?? or what am i figuring wrong? lol that part doesnt sound right

According to NAPA here is their specs for 2500HD front shocks:

Compressed Length:10.25"
Extended length:15.125"
Travel Length:4.875"
Here are their specs for a GMT800 K1500 shock:

Compressed Length:10.875"
Extended length:15.375"
Travel Length:4.5
These seem to be about the same for all factory replacement shocks for each vehicle.

well... thats much less room than i was hoping to have with dropping it on a stock LCA lol i was debating making a jig off a stock arm, and making a tubular arm with a lower eyelet mount, to fit a little bigger coilover
MN roads arent very forgiving

my truck currently has a 6 inch lift so im kinda flying blind. if im not mistakin, my factory torsion bar crossmember brackets are cut off the frame for the lift. but i wanna drop it down and figure i may as well try the conversion now
