Default Can I Fit A 305-40-22 under a 2-4" Drop?

Just wondering if a 305-40-22 would fit under my truck with a 2-4" drop without rubbing? As far as i'm concerned it's the perfect size tire but i didn't know if it would physically work.

im running that tire with a 2.5-2.75 drop in the front with no problem. 3.5 out back and no issues. make sure you get the right backspacing for the wheel.

LOL no it's not. Then they'd stick out like a mexican truck.

I've NEVER heard of someone being able to fit 305/40/22's without rubbing with a lowered front end. To claim you have almost a 3" drop. Those are the EXACT same size as my 265/75/16's and I ran a 2.5" drop with those, but that was on a stock 16x7 rim. They had OPTIMUM backspacing and the rims was tiny. I still have scrape marks on the inner fender well.

So I think you're leaving some key info out or I'm calling BS.

maybe it was +12. im not a wheel person so im going off memory. either way i have 2 inch drop spindles and at least a 1/2 inch turn on the keys and i have ZERO rub from lock to lock in the front. maybe since i have torsion bars up front it makes a difference but a lot of guys with the ss's have the same setup as me with the same size tire and zero rubbing issues.

Theres a link to my truck. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=395228 I have 22x9" Centerline Stingray III wheels with 5.5" backspaceing with 305/40-22 tires on a 2/4 drop useing spindles in the front. I also turned my tortion bars down 3 turns (about 1 inch). I have slight marks on my inner liner on the back side. It obviously touches inorder to leave a clean spot on the liner but I belive it only rubs a little when the wheel is turned all the way. I have Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico tires. I know all tires the same size should be the same, but it seems to me that you can take two tires the same size but different brands side by side and one may look taller or shorter than the other.

Ah see I knew you guys were leaving something out. You both have a torsion bar system for y'alls trucks.
Cyazo6 your truck looks to be about an inch and a half taller than a 2wd truck with a 2/4 drop and coil springs.

Riviera55kid-Your truck is about 1" taller than a normal 2wd IIRC. The SS trucks are lowered 1/2 from the factory but they're still taller than a normal 2wd truck.

Also you'd have to have about 40mm of backspacing on a traditional 22x9.5" rim in order for 305/40/22's to even THINK about working.

BenVortec-if you haven't bought the tires yet then run something like a 285/40/22. That size tire would work well with a 2/4.

He didn't leave it out, it says "SS" in his sig.

I'd only run a 285/40 if you have the correct backspacing. A 30.5" tire is about the tallest I'd go without optimal backspacing. With DJM 2' lcas I had one tire rub occasionally and it's only 29.7" tall. Now I have McGaughy's spindles and it's almost a full inch higher. Personally I'd run a 265/40-22.
