My definition of "Taken care of" would be to do the repairs under warranty, especially since the cause was a "Faulty piston". I didn't see where Performabuilt was going to cover the cost of repairs.

Well I will comment here, 1-We do not make the molded pistons, 2- If the transmission had been in warranty we would have covered it, But it was not. Anything and any part can fail. Its unfortunate it happened and its unfortunate it happened out of warranty. But we are doing the RESTORE we offer for him and he will get a full warranty with that , Thats what thats for if something fails out of warranty. Personally I think its a great deal for people out of warranty, $950 shipping both ways included , All parts included regardless of what happened and rather than a 45 day or 90 day warranty a complete new warranty.
Of course thats my opinion. Its always sucks when something goes wrong but its nice to know your not stuck completely holding the bag.

I'm a firm believer that they are better built products, and not just because that's what I own

The only gaurantee with performance parts is, it's gauranteed to break.

Not under warranty that I can promise you. Not sure what your definition of a lot is but this shop has very few come backs I guarantee it! I have personally built almost every unit that has gone through this shop in the last 4 years. Converter hubs breaking and destroying pumps is the one failure that I have seen. Unfortunately that seems to be an issue with converter depth and also weak hubs in trucks. I think it also has something to do with the weight of your vehicles. I will say that the hubs on the Yank converters seem to be a bit thicker then other companies and I like that. I have seen plenty of cases of this in units not built at FLT as well so it is what it is. We are currently working on a solution for a stronger pump rotor but these things take time. I honestly can not remember the last time I had a failure that was builder error. Quality control is very important in this shop and will never change. I take my work very personal and do not appreciate the comment. Vince

BTW Frank thanks for chiming in here to clarify what failed in that unit. I have not seen that failure often but it totally make sense. Sucks when it happens but good to see you are working with your customer. Vince

It does really suck that this happened out of warrenty but that's my luck. Basically I paid $1,000 for a new warrenty but I'm not blaming Performabuilt for a it. Frank has been really cool to deal with and they even agreed not to start my new warrenty until I get my converter back from Yank and install everything. I will be testing the limits of the Level 3 and my stock 6.0L soon. Anybody want to take bets on what lets go first.
