Next time it will just break something else, Believe me, If I though that billet shaft would make my tranny bullet proof, I would have put one in it. But I HATE swapping trannies on the damn floor, especially in a 4x4 and I have no lift. Got an 80e that I'm going though now that's gona go in there and I pry to god that will be the last tranny swap I will have to do on this truck,

Did Frank say it was an over run clutch seal on the piston or a Teflon seal on the input shaft?

Your holding out on us! Kidding. Can't wait to see what you have in store , want a test mule?

I laughed out loud when I read this. That totally paints a picture I have experienced.

Agree. However I have abused a 65E into the 11's many times weighing in at 5500#s. There was alot of stress on that puppy on every launch (AWD with Drag Radials) and I also had my share of street fun weighing alot more. The luck I have had with the 65E encouraged me to give it another shot with an additional 300RWHP.

Just clearing up .
Nothing broke the forward clutch molded pistion seal tore even with where the metal meets it around one side of the piston, this caused a leak and subsequently welded the forward clutch set together from slipping, The remainder of the trans is perfect,
I have not see this before and can only assume a faulty piston.
The seal was not rolled over just sliced even with where the steel piston meets it

I've seen it a few times, but it usually just causes a delay into drive and doesn't even burn the forward clutches.

I guess you got a defective piston, the ones I have seen are just small tears about 1/2 inch long.

I agree, those are strange simptoms for that failure. It's good though that it wasn't anything expensive or major. I'm a 60/65/70E supportor myself. Lately they have been holding their own on the fastest times board. They aren't too fond of turbo's with hard boost launches.

Glad to hear the problem was found and taken care of. I have been nothing but impressed with Frank's customer service and my Level 3 trans.
