Well, I think it's safe to say you're in the minority there. Also take into consideration your truck weighs probably 500-1000lbs less than most people with extended or crew cabs. Apparently it's the extra weight that really kills these trannies.

Well the stock cryoed, TBSS 4l70e 4x4 output shaft I had put in my tranny wouldn't hold a 5.7 with 8psi of 4x4 brake boosted launches...
Not only are the splines twisted, but it's cracked though one of the oil holes and it about 2 1/2 shorter then it should be right now

Pretty much the same 5400lbs 4x4 truck as the OP

4wd output shafts are weaker then 2wds. The 2wd's are longer and have room to twist without breaking. A billet one would fix that problem.

And from my experience, I have never had any luck with cyro'ing output or input shafts. Tends to make it more brittle and easier to crack. And every output shaft I have seen that has broke, breaks at that lube hole.

Ya it "might", but anther $550 into a tranny I aready have $2400 in, doesn't make since for a "it MIGHT hold" for a while. I rather sell this tranny to someone who isn't making near as much power and put something quite a bit stronger in it. (4l80e)

I was told the the factory does the cryoing on them in the new 4l70's...

It's only cracked at the lube hole, it twisted off right behind the drive spins,

Theres no "might". You won't break a solid billet shaft, promise you that.
