Default 4l80e questions...

Whats all involved in swapping a 4l80e into my truck(03 RCSB)? I plan on going 6.0 soon and dont want the hassel of having to change the trans when i blow myne. I can get a awsome deal on an 80e but i dont no if the good out weighs the bad....? Will i need diff headers? will the tune work? driveshaft? Is a 4l80e really worth it..or will i be alright with a built 4l65e? I want a reliable street truck but be able to run like a low 11...

Headers will work. You'll need a different driveshaft, and a different tune segment for the 80E.

NOPE...without installation costs FLT 4L65 level 5 ~$4200+ with TC...4L80E level 4 from Speed Eng with conversion kit within $100 of that OR stock 4L80 with shift kit/TC & conversion kit $3600 delivered. Really all u need is the stocker...if ur gonna stick below 450rwhp just add a shift kit & vette servos to ur 4l60 and upgrade the tranny to the 4l80 once u move up in HPs. R/

When I priced the two out I came out to roughly the same $$ amount either way. I have a recommendation for a 4L80E builder if you go that way, PM me if you're interested.

you don't need a whole new driveshaft, just change out the yoke to fit the 80e. You don't need to spend the money for a built 80e, a stock one with a shift kit will handle more then most people will ever throw at it. The tune is a pretty simple fix, if you know someone near you with hptuners it is very easy to get it to work. The 80e is definetly worth it just for the piece of mind IMO.

Not sure about the 2500 crossmember. All i did was cut the mount off my stock crossmember, and turned it around so it was facing backward instead of forward. Then all that needs to be done is weld it on and slot the bolt hole for the tranny mount.
