Default 4.56 gears

hey guys just want some of your opinions on stepping it up to 4.56 gears from 3.73s ,the extra reving at highway speeds wouldnt bother i use to own a smallblock 93 s10 with a turbo 350 373s with a 3000 stall so that reved at 3000 rpm at 60 no problem .so i figured the silvy will be around 2400 at 70mph with 265/50/20. im just wondering how would light throttle be will it shift sooner will it shorten first gear, and will it bog down normal driving and make it louder or will i make it up to speed with ease.also how would it affect my stall speed launching .just wondering if its worth doing and i figured you guys would thanks for the replys

It will make your stall feel a little tighter and you will have to get it retuned because you'll be bumping the rev limiter with the 4:56's. It will feel like 1'st gear is shorter and shift sooner under light throttle but there won't be any bogging down at all. I think you'll really like them if you do it. It will launch a lot harder if you can get traction. I put them in my truck and one of the best upgrades Ive done so far.

The convertor will effectively stall lower due to lower resistance from the higher leverage the gears provide.

I would love to do 4.56's but with a 4L80 to keep 1st gear for more then a blip.

thanks for the replys now im for sure going to get the gears done which now that makes me wonder to about shift extensions rpms droping closer between shifts at full throttle if thats what u mean blackbeast? that would help alot on a 4.8 1st to 2nd shift.

4.8 really likes the 4.56's. i have a 5 speed, so i don't know how they work w/auto. i like them much better than 4.10. traction may be a problem. highway driving would be a little annoying if it is a dd.
