Question 1-2 Transgo Accumulator Setup

OK, here's the story: I installed the transgo with a vette servo a while back. I also have a tune from Allen and have the TM removed.

Originally had one spacer installed and was chirping the tires from 1-2 on what seemed like any throttle position. Even if I wasn't into it, it was hard on that shift. So I took out the one spacer and it solved the chirping problem, but it is still a little harsh for my liking. So I'm thinking about the following options, and would like any advice you guys may have.

1) Put some TM back in - I may do this no matter what mechanical change I do, I don't see how having 20% TM could hurt.

2) Replace the 1-2 accum transgo springs with the stock ones. BUT, that brings me to my next question for that case; I can't remember the orientation of the springs in the 1-2 accum for the stock setup, was it the same? I thought there was one little spring in the middle of the main one. It's been too long

Here is the setup with the transgo.

Any help you guys can give would be appreciated.

Andrew

yes, there is a small spring inside the larger spring between the Acc body, and the piston.

However, my guess on your shift problem is the 1-2 feed hole. With a Vette or Billet servo, the feed hole needs to be .071 or close to that. With a stock servo they recommend .083(?) I think.

That should fix the problem.

Make sure that Allen left line pressure alone.

I have the Vette servo, .083" hole, no TM and I left the 1-2 accumulator in its stock configuration (other than replacing the piston with the aluminum pinless). It shifts fine to my liking and the girlfriend hasn't even made one mention about it. It still shifts firm, but nothing close to tire chirping.

For stock configuration the piston installs opposite of your drawing and the two springs go in the accumulator body (as emperor72 stated).

Thanks, so I'll both stock springs inside the accumulator and flip the piston over and reinstall. I got it right there?

Thanks,
Andrew

OK, these are my two springs I put in on the left, correct? I have the blue one but think that's from the 4th accum. Honestly not sure though.

yes.

I believe the blue goes in between the sep plate and the 1-2 piston.

So, from the ACC body- black spring w/small spring inside it, then 1-2 piston, then blue spring, then sep plate.

Ok, while it makes sense there is a spring between the piston and sep plate, are you sure that is the way the stock is set up? I only ask because those are really the only three springs I have that are large enough for that accumulator, but I know I swapped a spring out in the 4th accum. Which means I'm missing a spring? Sure feel stupid for not paying closer attention/remembering how this thing came out.

Only two springs in the 1-2 accumulator. The other spring is for the 3-4 accumulator (which goes above you separator plate)

You should be able to get to were you want to go with nelson putting stock pressures in it or backing it down in the areas you need.

I have the same setup (transgo, no washers, vette servo, no tqm) and I just increased the values(decreases line pressure) in the pressure vs throttle table below 50% throttle and it made the part throttle 1-2 shift alot nicer. It will still let out a nice squeel at any thing over 50% throttle though so you might want to change it to everything below 75%.
