Talking Why is everyone METH HEADS here???

why is meth so important...
i have never ran it... IMO its only a band-aid
i am building a fun street truck and i think Meth is only one more thing to go wrong... and also if i can't make 800+rwhp with a 408ci LS motor (9.25:1cr) and a precision 88 or gerett 91mm turbo on 93 octane i will sell it and go back to ford because i made 700+rwhp with a 331ci modular motor (8.9:1cr) and a precision 76mm turbo on 93 octane....

why is it SO important on these chevy's to run meth to make any power?

I use it for cooling effect and to increase octane. Out in west tx the max is 91.

X2

I don't run meth to make power or to make up for a undersized fuel system, in fact I don't even run strait meth most of the time, just -20* WWF. I use it mostly for cooling. It helps with detonation too, but I keep my tune a little on the safe side for street running anyway just in case it doesn't work right. Mostly I like it for street use.

Biggest reason is when I'm running around on the street and stop for a little bit to BS someone, everything get heat soaked from just sitting there. With the meth, I can jump right in the truck no mater what, street/track and just hammer on it and I know the meth will cool any heat soak right off as soon at it starts spraying and I'll have my full timing ALL the time. I don't ever have to let it cool off after driving it for a while or worry about heat soak.

One time about 2 years ago, I was getting ready to go to the track on a Friday night to run the street car night and the Meth pump died right before I went. I thought no big deal, I'll just richin the tune little and go any way. What a PITA that night was, I drove the 45 min to the track and then got through tech and everything was heat soaked form the drive and didn't feel like waiting and hour or 2 for it to cool off. A 1/4 mile isn't enough to cool down a heat soaked intercooler on a 90*+ night. Normally I never have to worry about it cuz I hit boost, the Meth (WWF) comes on and cools everything right down and runs nice and consistent all night. Well that night it too forever to get the stupid thing to cool off enough to not pull timing and run good.

That's why I like Meth, lol.

Yes sir I am! Gonna be changing it up a little this summer. Gonna go from a single M15 nozzle to a 3 nozzle setup. A M5 pre-turbo, and 2 M7's or M10's, pre TB. I've heard of some good results with that type of setup. Seems the M15 is not nearly as good of an atomizing nozzle as a pair of smaller nozzles.

Other then that one pump that died that was 2 years old at the time, YOUR kit has held up great!

Call me monday i always got stuff up my sleave.

The droplet size is not what your seeing the gain from.
15gph nozzle has say 40 microns of droplet size. and 2 ghp nozzle will be in the 37micron range. I am at home atm so i don't have the exact numbers in front of me but there is not a huge difference.

The gains you are seeing is the the nozzle placement and the extra thats being sprayed in. 2 5gph nozzles will flow more than 1 10gph nozzle. So some of the gains seen is just the extra fluid being sprayed.

Placement of the nozzles is another way of making more power. More time you give the mixture to absorb heat the more it will drop the temps. Farthest you can get the nozzle is before the turbo. I am not a big fan of going crazy with huge nozzle pre blower. It is possible to damage the wheel. so care needs to be taken.

I have heard some use nitrous pre turbo to help get out of the hole with a big turbo, does meth work the same way or is it just cooling everything pre turbo?

No, meth doesn't spool a turbo like N2O. It just a fuel, not a oxidizer that accelerates combustion

It's used mostly for cooling IMO

To me, the answer to the original question is – it’s inexpensive and it works.

why would you want to spray pre-turbo? don't you need that heat to spool the turbo?
i always thought you'd want to spray if after..

where would the best place be for a remote mount?
