It cant when the front diff isnt locked in. In 2wd the CAD will keep the pass side axle from being locked in, and the front diff is an open diff. So the front diff doesnt spin the driveshaft when you are not in 4wd, at all. Even if the autotrac case is slowly turning the front driveshaft it isnt going to matter.

Unfortunately, even though this makes sense, it isn't true. Not on a 4x4 equipped with the Auto 4x4 T-case. Don't believe me? Try this. Park your vehicle in 2 wheel drive. Get under it and try to rotate the front driveshaft. You can't. Clutch packs are holding it. Now put the truck up in the air, and rotate the rear driveshaft. You will see the front shaft turn also.
