for me any more than 2deg of knock retard is asking for a broken piston.

you have some kind of issue still. probably just a matter of some tuning tweaks. if you are going to go out and do some test runs you should work your way up to full runs. for starters get it up to about 40mph and floor it for just a sec or so, then look at your log. if you see more than a deg or so of knock retard then stop right there till you get that figured out. look at your o2's, they should be in the .88+range. if not then stop right there and get that figured out. it is very easy to end up with a broked stock piston if you just go out and rip it thru the gears and let it knock.

if the log from the short blast look ok then make another run and stay in it for a couple of seconds and check that log. if that looks good then run it at wot all the way thru 2nd gear. if thats ok then maybe give it a full run. work your way up. if you hear ANY detonation then just imiagen hiting the top of your pistons with a hammer. they wont last long. be listening close and be ready to let out. once you get this tuning figured out then you can beat the hell out of it and not worry anymore.

Thanks for the advice, I will do that from now on. The last thing I want to deal with is a broken piston. I just scanned my truck for codes and it threw a p0135 which has to do with the O2 sensor, Do I need to replace my O2 sensors? If so which O2 sensors are good to buy? Maybe the O2 sensors could be part of my problem?

First check the plug connections at the O2s. If they look good, then head on down to the nearest NAPA store and get a new pair. Some times when R&Ring heads coolant drains down the exhaust pipes and that hammers the O2 sensors. Donno if that's the problem with boost pressure, but it could send the fueling way out of wack and that could be causing your KR.

Good luck,

Richard

Alright I just changed the o2 sensors and that code does not appear anymore. I took it out for a safe drive and did as parish suggested and the scan still shows a max of 7.85deg of KR. I am really starting to think that it has to be something with the tune and a fueling issue. I am starting to get depressed about my truck. Let me know what you think.

What does parish mean by the o2's need to be in the .88+ range?

Lets back up a second.....I am reading your sig and I see you have mail order tune.....sounds to me like the timing is a little too aggressive.

I hope so, I am getting tired of thinking about what could be wrong. Would the timing have anything to do with low boost? Thanks for your help.
