Default Test drive results

I fired up my truck on friday night and everything went great, I let my truck idle for about 25 minutes and then let it cool over night. Yesterday I took it for a drive and everything was fine until I hit 3000 + rpm's. Once I get to 3000rpm's then my truck misses so I drove it back to my garage and I pulled one of the spark plugs and it looked very lean and the timing mark on the spark plug was off. Of course I have a mail order tune right now which I know is the problem, I will be getting a dyno tune this friday so I think that should hopefully fix my problem. Anybody have any other suggestions on what could be the problem? I checked the coils, plug wires and the fuel. The only other problem could be the rocker arms or the fuel pressure which I did not check yet. Let me know what you think, Keep in mind that this is the first time since I started my truck since the WCCH Heads, GT2-3 Cam, & Radix.

Hey Brad. Glad to see the trucks up and running. Is the check engine light on? Do you have any way of scanning for codes? You might want to have a glance under the valve covers to check for anything skewed or broken. Keep us posted.

Yea I scanned the truck, I did throw a code but I think they had something to do with the o2 sensor which I remember I had from last year. I will check for codes again when I get home, I will also check the fuel pressure aswell. Thanks again Richard for all of your help, I will take a peek under the valve covers to make sure everything is OK. Hopefully I get this problem fixed because I am anxious to find out what my truck really can do.

I just went home and checked the fuel pressure and it is at 50psi. I think I found my problem. Now I just need to find out what is wrong. I am not saying that I did put the fuel filter on backwards but would that make a difference if I did, If so I will check it to see if I did.

50psi when? Idle? Key on, engine off? I'm assuming you used a mechanic's gauge on the schraeder valve?

When you say it was missing, was it something you felt or just the blinking miss light (which could be from the cam).

Fuel pressure is 50psi at idle, I noticed it when I went for a drive. Once I heard the miss I went straight back to my house. I never saw a blinking miss light but I heard it. Yes I did use a mechanical fuel pressure gauge. I will pull the fuse for the Radix fuel pump and see if the fuel pressure stays the same and that should tell me what direction to start searching. The fuel pressure being low explains alot why my plugs looked lean and why it would idle fine. I'll let you know what I find.

A fuel filter installed backwards can partially collapse due to flow and cause a serious restriction. Good luck
