Default So close but no cigar

I took the truck to the local 1/8th mile tonight to go after that 6.99 I've been shooting for. I found the limit of my cheap *** Firestone tires on almost every pass. I never thought I would have traction issues in 4wd but I actually have rubber all over my doors from the front tires. I actually got sideways about 100' out on one run and had to back out of it and keep it out of the wall. Details are in my sig and I was running 14.5-15psi, 18 degrees of timing with a 5100lb race weight. Best pass of the night went like this.

60' 1.632 4psi launch with a little wheel spin
330' 4.697
1/8th 7.099
MPH 97.44

I ran a bunch of 7.16's spinning. Anything over 4psi on the launch would blow the tires off. I think it would easily go 6.80's or better with a better set of tires. Maybe next time.

Videos of the last two passes.

Nice runs, looks like you need a Boost Controller dependent on MPH of the front tires and what gear your truck is in. At least that way you could dial out boost down low to enhance your launch traction.

The track does look funny in the video since the shut down area goes up a steap hill. I assure you that the track is flat. There was a c5 vette with a ls2 402 there spraying a small shot running the same times as me.

You really got that heavy thing moving! Are you on a stock fuel system besides dual walbros and injectors?

I need to get busy...

Fuel system is pretty much stock. I have the duel intank 255's and 60lb injectors and a single 625cc meth injector. The fuel lines and rails are stock.

Nice and dang so close.
What psi you run in the tires?

Things to try if you haven't.

Lower boost launch.
Travel limiter on the front end.
A blip of nitrous.

Thanks. I'm running 42psi in the tires. They are just Pep Boys AT tires so they are definitely not made for the track. I tried everything from 4-9 psi on the launch. The 7.09 pass was leaving easy off 3.5-4psi. Any more than that and it would spin bad. The 9psi launch was interesting. I was seeing the wall after the 60' mark. LOL

Next time I'm going to strap the front down and drop the air pressure a bit. Stock48 just sent me a 3.5'' downpipe that I'm going to put on to. I still have a pound or two of boost I think before I'm out of turbo. I said my limit was 15psi last night and just couldn't get it done. If I can get it to hold a better launch 6's will be easy.

Deffently need to strap the front. This is the write up that I followed.

Works very well for keeping the front end planted.

Sometimes less us more. Less power at first might allow you to stay hooked up.

Good luck on your next outing.
