Default Narrowing it down!

well i think ive got my problem, of loosing power up top, narrowed down to one of two things: either the cam just isnt good for the radix, in having to much overlap and bleeding boost, or the cam being to big for the inj. im going to log some runs when i get the tranny back in and try and see if the inj. are getting overworked and to check everything out. what would yall say, i really dont know much about this stuff so if this sounds stupid just say so.

I am not a Radix guy, but I thought a 2.7 pulley would create crazy intake air temps? No belt slip? Running meth? What kind of timing are you seeing at WOT/max boost? IDC?

How much are your heads milled? Just off the top of my head, milled heads means that your CR is slightly higher, 2.7 pulley means high IAT's, I am wonding if KR is pulling your timing and causing it to fall off on top. What engine do you have? I am not a cam expert but that seems like it may be a bit to much cam for the radix, then again I dont know. Just some thoughts. Someone correct me so i can learn something.

well i dont think the iats are my only problem. because the power fell off up top on my very first run, with the 3.4 pulley and it was barely warmed up, and it was 45 degrees in the shop. but yes i think they are hurting me with the 2.7. but ive got to find out why my power would be falling off even with the 3.4 pulley. and we didnt monitor iats, dont ask me why, but i am getting matt to go with me this weekend to log some runs so we can check the inj. duty cycle and the intake air temps.

i am running 20 degrees of timing at wot with no knock. so i think it has something to do with the cam. or injectors.

I would go back to the 3.4 pulley and log from there. If the power was falling off with the 3.4 pulley, I would troubleshoot from there to elimate other problems associated with the 2.7 pulley.

Also, I dont think that cam is necessarily a bad choice, just might want to advance it 3-4 degrees to prevent the bleeding of boost at higher rpm's.

well. i cant really do any tuning on it since the tuner is in dallas. so ill pretty much have to stick with the 2.7 right? and how would i advance the timing on the cam?

You would need to move the camshaft gear that bolts to the cam.

I have never done it, so I dont know how exactly. Im not sure if you have to purchase another camshaft gear or there is a way to move it and still use the stock sprocket.

I think you advance the cam timing to bring the power curve down in the rpm range. Retard to shift to the top end which is what you are wanting I believe.
