Arrow More compression, less boost orrrrrrrrr less booost more comp??????

Ok so me and a buddy been talking a bit. Would it be better suited to run more psi and less comp or more comp and less boost.. I know that the better the quench the more efficient the burn.. What is your thoughts... Run a 11cc dish with a stock thickness head gasket .053 with 72cc chamber heads, to get a 9.4 comp ratio with a 4.030x3.62(370ci's) or run a a less boost, less of a dish and thinner gasket to get the quench tighter, but be back up in the 9.7 compression range.. Decisions decisions.. What are your thoughts on this???

There's not a whole lot of difference between 9.4 and 9.7 compression so either will do fine. Keep what you have now and if you don't like it change it later.

john...how much timing do you think you can get away with having 15psi and running pump gas?

17* with 12psi on my 370 and i am at the limits of the fine 91 octane out here. static compression is 9.4:1

i say go with the 9.7 or even 10:1 and have fun.

I am going the high comp low boost route with my 408. Should be around 11.1 SCR with 5-6 pounds of boost, but I am not building this as a track truck, just as a DD in need of a permanently mounted trailer to carry the ***** around in.

I should have it done in a few weeks if you arent in a hurry to make your decision.

I've done this both ways many times and here's the short of it.
If you want a lot of power on low octane gas then go lower comp like 8.5:1. Additional boost is worth WAY WAY more power than additional static compression. But if you are going to be limited by weak drive train or something limiting you to 5-600hp then you may as well go with more compression.

Drive line should not be a issue, 93 from the pump all the time.. I have been thinking it over, think I might just go with the more comp and less boost. I know it is dumb but I would like to stay away from spraying meth. Thats is always a option if I need it. So maybe 9.7 or 9.8-1 and just run 15 psi instead of 18, keep the timing in check.. I hate his **** LOL. Like I said quench is important, makes for a happier, more responsive, less prone to detonate then with out good quench..
