intake size on FI?

Default intake size on FI?

ive always been curious. when it comes to forced induction what is the ideal intake size. i know that normally the more air flow the better, obviously, but is there a such thing as to big? just thinking logicly i would guess that i would want to not go too big like a 102mm or anything because that would reduce pressure. these are just my guesses and have always wondered how that worked on forced induction. can someone please explain this to me?

Bigger is closer to ideal, no matter what size you have.

Any restriction on the inlet on any type of forced induction is exactly that: a restriction. Any throttling of any kind will limit airflow. There is no ram air effect when it comes to forced induction. And on a turbo, there is no exhaust extraction effect past the turbo.

There would be no power benefit, ever, any time, of restricting the inlet side of a forced induction device.

so basicly what your saying is FI or not, its the same principle as always. the more airflow the better. so if i was to go out and buy the 102mm from FAST and put use it with FI it would deffinatly be an improvement. Right or wrong? sorry im just trying to grasp this. forgive me for my ignorance on this

Install a vacuum gauge that you can read while you drive. Put the fitting at different places to check for restrictions: After the filter, after the MAF, and after the throttle. If either the MAF or filter cause a vacuum reading, then a bigger throttle probably wouldn't help until you changed the MAF or filter.
