If you let it boost build at the line it doesn't have to be that loose. Mine is a 9 1/2" PI and it freakin' rocks. Flashes to about 2800-3000 but if you wait a couple more seconds...look out. I am still wondering what lag is any time I hit it after it's warmed up with the wrapped exhaust. I guess my converter is loose enough that I don't seem to experience lag or maybe I'm dumb enough to not no what it is. That new ZO6 that I smoked till half track in warm weather got a taste of a 5300 lb 4wd turbo on 20's with a good converter, but I'm just a lowly rear mount so what do I know. Still I have to admit a front mount probably would need a bit less converter IMHO. Good luck and happy racing.

Some will argue that less stall and less gear will create more load and build more boost.

Beat me to it!! For daily driving the lower your stall the faster you'll build boost and the longer you'll have it RPM wise. If you have a 3500 stall you'll build boost shortly after that. If you have a 2600 you'll build it by 3000 rpm (depending on your cam, turbo, A/R, etc... but you'll have full boost for longer in your RPM range.
But for track use a bigger one will be better.

I'll agree. My own truck would full spool at 2k rpm.I could brake boost it to 5lbs on the stock converter. My new setup runs a 1800 stall which feels like a stocker.Full boost from a stop takes about 20-30' puching it.I can brake boost it for full boost launch no problem.

I currently have a stock stall and 3.73 gears... and get near instant full boost from a dig. I'm gonna try a Vig 3200 with my 4L80E along with a bigger turbo. We'll see how it works out

I wish i knew how a stock stall felt with my turbo, helped alot with the procharger but not sure the diff with it and the turbo. stock wouldprobably work better for me since I tow but im too lazy to swap back, lol.

Probably because i'm rear mount, when I had a converter that was as tight as the stock one (2000), 3.42's and only 5 psi, it sucked REALLY bad. As I recall I dropped .65 in the eighth going to 4.10's. In my case, at low boost it was a DOG out of the hole.
