Default Ever wonder how long it takes a turbo to spool down after engine cutoff?

Wonder no longer This video was taken with a hot engine. The spool down with a cold engine was significantly shorter. Anyway, I count 9-10 seconds in the video. This is a pt-76, and the engine is idling at 700 rpm.

Excuse the first false start. I was using my remote start while taking video, and it doesn't usually catch on the first try.

Hopefully the vid doesn't take too long to optimize.

I waited for the vid to optimize... doesn't seem too...

I am shopping for a new turbo for my LS6... thinking T76 S Trim on a .96 AR... thats why I am particularly interested in vids of response versus intitial RPM WOT...

It's crazy with a ballbearing turbo. My T76 spun for over a minute after I shut it down.

You can even see how long it goes just by spinning it by hand....

My gt35r on my rx7 spins about 40 seconds after shutdown from idle. You can actually hear it if the surroundings are quiet enough.

Wow that's pretty cool! I actually had absolutley no idea how long it took. I wonder how long mine takes? When I first got it, it wouldn't free spin at all even when I spun it by hand, it would stop spinning within the second but I'm sure that had to do with the fact the journal's were dry and not lubed up. I though there was something wrong with my turbo!
Cool stuff Chris.
