horizontal 3 Core Procharger Intercooler vs. vertical FMIC
#1
Does anyone have any info. on how these compare?
I currently run the 3 core horizontal fmic with NO meth and wanted to see if the vertical fmic's perform better.I still might go back to meth also but I haven't decide.

My tuner once told me that the horizontal (or flat) mount with a 1 inch lip always performed better during real world tests. Has something to do with the fact that heat can naturally rise from the core. However, he is also a huge fan of Alky since he use to live and work in florida.

I have only ran the vertical 12x27x 3or4" but can tell you in 90 degree heat, I would never get more than 10-15 degrees over ambient during a 10lb max run and then it would drop back to 4-8 over at cruise.
I think you'll get more results with using meth for the octane and bumping up the timing.

All this is coming about because I haven't used my meth kit since I hydrolocked my last LQ4.I just sent my meth controlling back to Coolingmist to have it checked out.
Last Friday night it was in the upper 80's all night and in the 90's the 1.5 hour ride up to the track. My IAT's were at 108* in the staging lanes and hit a nice cool 174* by the end of the run-pulling my timing down to 14.5!
I know this track night is my worst case scenerio for heat and should be my worst times. It ran a 13.1 but again with no meth and less timing. The same night with meth in Sureshot's truck I saw 122* iat at the end of the run.
One other thing about my set-up is that my BRASS iat sensor is right next my TB in a 4" stainless steel pipe.My piping coming out of my fmic usually feels cool to the touch and this pipe from my maf to my tb can get hot under the hood.Should I wrap that pipe or not, it is only about 12" long.

I have a Procharger 3-Core intercooler and I cant get it to fit behind my spoiler to save my life, so ive just been running my 2-Core. But i have been debating bout doing a FMIC set-up in front of my radiator.

I can't tell by the pic in your avatar, do you have an aftermarket spoiler? Sharpshooter and I both run the procharger 3-core intercoolers with no problems.

I was at the track last week and I was running back to back 13.1-13.0 in my Yukon Denali that has an intercooled whipple. I am using a horizontal prescision core with custom endtanks. My Yukon Denali has a stock engine other than the blower and headers. I think I will be running in the 12's my next time at the track. Mine seems to be efficient enough and I don't run meth either.

I am running a 3core but i have it it at a bit of a slant as in the Pic, I also fabbed up a bit of a air scoop to help deflect air. now I have not been to a track yet but even sitting on the dyno last friday for about 4 hours with just a fan blowing on it I neever got above about 15 over amb.
