I just swapped out my CNC ported 317s for plain ole 706s. With the ls3 gasket, it’s about 11.5:1.

I got the gaskets for about $53 off eBay.

I have the comp cam 222/224, xr275hr and I love how it runs now.

Very strong bottom end now.

Who knows what the future may bring- funds are limited- my decision to take blower off was because I’m still rocking a 65e

adding the two would for sure kill it- who knows what the spring will bring-

Lq9/243 /LS9 head gaskets - BTR STAGE 3 truck cam installed

i put the largest pulley I have on the blower for now- 3.6”

this has been a slow process....

now on the look out for a 4l80e ....

Might push the 65e as far as it can go though

I would start saving for an 80e. Some people will beat the 60e to 80e debate to death but in the end, it’s a piece of mind that you can’t buy.

@darkirish63 what say you?

Yup, sure is.... I have a 2005 80e 4x4 in my garage with driveshafts for our other truck.... just waiting on that 60e to quit before I swap that out (still need that gear for transfer case)

I wonder what a local person would pay for this FLT LVL5 65e unit and this yank converter.... hmmm

It really doesn’t cost a lot to do the swap. A few hundred in misc parts, that includes a crossmember.

The big cost is the trans itself and the converter.

Well I found myself a 80e with 73k on it- hopefully it will all work out being a 97 unit

sold the 65e as of now no money in hand yet though

dont know what stall converter I should go with if I ever change over (low compression- turbo instead) 2800-3000 maybe will just do

So I got some goodies in from summit racing, I’m trying to get my stuff together for hooking up to my radiator again using -6an fittings.

I looked up on rock auto it said the radiator side is 3/8 NPTF I found them on summit and it’s not right, looks like a straight thread. Anyone have a idea?

Also so got the HD2 shift kit in with earl -6an adapters for trans - anything else I should add to these 80es that I’m not thinking off?
