Wondering if anyone has flipped their passenger side manifold upside down to do a front mount turbo. Leaving the driver side as is routing the exhaust underneath. Will it work. Plan is to make a down turn and mount the turbo flange upside down?

Anyone tried this?

 

Yes i did this exact thing on my 01 sierra, had a crossover pipe underneath come up and merge with the passenger side pipe into the turbo and out the 3 inch downpipe through the same space the cross over tube came up, it was a tight fit if anything.

 

mine is made like that but flange is not upside down

 

Anyone have any pics of this type of setup?

 

Thanks for the replies guys. So it is possible. Thats perfect. I believe i will need to mount it upside down because the turbo is so large it wont clear the hood. Being its a t6 s400-78 With a spool valve ( it ad about 1" to the turbo hight).

The only other problem im going to have is fitting the 5" down pipe past the passenger side manifold and out the back. Thinking im going to need to oval it out to make it happen.

I am running a Nelson Performance front mount with a flipped manifold. This was his third set of this design, he has since changed the location of the turbo, but it still uses the flipped manifold. My turbo is a 70/96. My down pipe is now routed down the outside of the pass side frame rail.





The coils would NOT fit in the normal location. To use the exsting brackets etc I had to flip the coils upside down and make new wires. No big deal

so in this setup you kept the driver side manifold the same and just ran the cross-over behind the motor similar to the kb, and trick kits, but went up to the turbo? if so that sounds like a lot of piping in that small area! lol.
