70mm Z71 Stage II Complete - Trans,TC,injectors = vids/pics/results
#1
New built 4L70E trans, Yank TT3000 stall and Delphi 60lb black ops injectors.
Took the hour drive from buffalo to rochester where Gadgetized met me to help swap the injectors in the parking lot. Then Mike at New Era Performance strapped it down and fine tuned the truck at 8psi. Two weeks ago it dynoed 402 460 at their open house, last week the trans and converter went in. I know stalled converters will dyno lower but make up for it in light to light action. With only those two changes it dynoed something like 358 385. After a couple tweaks, Mike made 368 392. Which is again at 8psi.
Then we opened the cutout. It made 10 psi w the cutout open and mike made a couple more tweaks. The final results are 411 408 at 10psi. It holds 8 till about 4500 and slowly climbs and stays at 10psi.
So just opening the exhaust made another 2 psi and 43 rwhp and 16 rwtq. Pretty interesting proof of flow and turbo efficiency. Thanks to my wife for surprising me with the cutout!
. Removing the air filter from the front of the turbo did not have an effect.
Then Mike, Darryl and I piled in the truck to do some street driving. After a few 0-70 pulls. Mike gave me his thumps up. It was spinning / chirping the tires in 4x4 w us three and 3/4 tank of fuel. Brake boosting 3,000rpm with 8psi is amazing. That's what I wanted to feel, I need to get sub 2.0 sixty foots for when I wanna wax some one at a light. He then fine tuned the lock and unlock in OD.
To top the afternoon off, Mike took me for a ride in his truck, the New Era work truck build. It's a violent lunch and the truck hauls ***. It was a totally different feeling than I have ever felt. I own a 9 sec car and have been in fast vehicles my whole life but experiencing that in a 5,000+ lb truck was awesome.
Stage III will be next year. Cam, gaskets, studs, and a what ever it takes to get a 500 hp dyno sheet. I am uploading vids now, brb.

Sounds fun. Going 1.7 60' in a 5500 lb truck is amazing. If I end up keeping my truck I want to send my stall back to Chris and get it losened to about 3400. Going for a low 1.6. Good luck with your build. Looking forward to the final product

I'm sure I read this something but what motor is in your truck and I'm assuming just what you listed (trans/Converter/injectors/Stage 2 kit with 70mm and cutout) is what you have done?
**EDIT**
I see from the YouTube vids that are now posted you have a 5.3L

thats awesome man. so you lost 34hp with the converter so rough numbers at the 10# if you didnt have the converter it would be around 440-450 which is sweet. id say a cam and 10-12# would net you what your looking for.
let me know if you set something up with daryl and some of the WNY guys to hit up empire ill head up.

Technically yes but the key point to understand is the converter change. The truck will not dyno the same now compared to the stock converter.
It lost 44 hp on the dyno because of that but I promise u the truck is making more power. U have to understand how the converters impact dyno numbers.
Basically if u wanna butt dyno add 44 to my untuned dyno ( 358 + 44 =402 ) which was it before the TC. Then he tuned it and made 368, an increase of 10rwhp. Add 44 to 368 and 412hp. So w a retune Mike made another 10 rwhp w all things but the converter, trans, and injectors the same.
Add that 44 to my 10 psi dyno of 411 is 455rwhp if I left the stock converter in there.
That's a bad way of explaining it but makes sense to most people. Guys remember dynos are for tuning and bragging rights, trap speed is where power is shown.
