i have an 03 same engine the LB7 all i have done is magnaflow 4" turbo back i get about 22mpg on the highway

if your looking at trucks with the LB7 engine before you buy have it taken to chev and have them check the balance rates on the injectors and have them look up the history to see if it has the upgraded injectors

its a good thing the factory ones have issues with reliability but once that has been delt with though some exhaust on the LB7 motors and they are one of the nicest sounding motors there is it sounds like a big block on steroids

Oh I see...verry good thing to look out for..thanks....but yea I'm the type of guy that a good exhaust sound is a must..but since thers not a lot of fixd up dmaxs around town...mostly cummins and fords... buddy of mine has a f250 with a4inch pipe strait from turbo all the way to the back tail pipe.I like the sound but would like something different..lol...I. always liked the truck with cowboy tail pipes..so how think it would sound with a 4in down pipe and all the way to the axal then split it to 2 2 1/2 then probly 4inch tips on each corner of the bed....

No, but the valve cover do and all the crap on top of them, lol. I helped a little with my dads a couple months ago (it's an 03). It's not a bad job, it books for 14-15 hours I think, but it took him about 40 cuz he's old and slow, and had never worked on a motor like that before. Guys who do them all the time can do it in about 8 hours.

The injectors he bought were $1800 for the set. The truck ran and drive fine, it had just smoked white a little when it idled is how he new it needed them. It had 2 replaced under warranty before he bought the truck at 111,000 miles and he was up to 177,000 when he decided to replace all of them for piece of mind since he was taking it on a trip to Alaska this summer.

As for MPG's, the truck has 4" Banks exhaust and a EFILive DSP5 tune I did for him and will get 19-22 on the highway and around 15-16 around town. He pulls a 37' 14,000lbs 5th wheel with it and get 10-12 pulling the trailer. He LOVES the truck!

Most get 20 mpg. If you pick up a Diesel Power Mag there's an article about a guy who gets 38mpg with some CNG injections system or something. He also won the Shootout this year. Truck made 1200/1800 to the wheels and got 38mpg or so...

Thats got to be how much diesel he's using only, they're not figuring in how much CNG or propane or what ever else he's using as fuel supplement.
