Default Re-tune for verter and tow/hual

Alright Im getting ready to install my yank tt3000, but not sure where to set lock up speeds. I drive mainly country roads to and from work, about 55 mph, then when I get to work and town the speed limit is around 35mph. Where is the best place to set my lockup speeds? Looking to keep the best fuel mileage that I can. What are stock lockup speeds?

Also can I get 100% TM removed and shifts set at 6000RPM in towhaul? I want tow/haul to be my race mode so I want to leave regular shifting at aroun 5800 and 85% TM removed. I will have a built trans at this point, but dont want to push it to hard.

The only problem however is that I do occasionally tow with my truck, about 3-5 times a year. Not very far, probably 20 mile round trip at the most. Would it still be ok to use tow/haul to tow, or should I just not hit the tow/haul button?

I would set your race shifts even with the stock cam about 6200 and remove all torque managment.

When you haul with it just keep in in regular mode and in 3rd gear

I doubt you would ever know a difference between 5800 and 6000 shift point, even much less 0% and 15% TM. Have your normal settings set how you want them, and use the tow/haul mode as it was intended: hold gears longer, more aggressive downshifting, harder lockup, and more TM.

You'll know a huge difference between 5800 and 6300 though, which is what mine shifts at. I love it, mother ****** is screaming by the time she shifts, and you oughta feel that vette servo kick in at 6300 bitch lunges into second. I have 50% torque management on reg tune and 0% on tow/haul and its real hard to notice a difference.

With that said. When the torque converter "locks up" that means its not going to downshift?

Ive been having a few problems with my tune, havent gotten my tuner back in it yet. He changed it to where if I go more than 50% throttle and then let off I can feel the TQ Con. locking and unlocking....

Used to be when I was stock tune, it would downshift usually no matter where I was speed wise if I floored it. Now, when I leave a side road or something to merge into traffic, I just about get ran over, cause if I spin a tire itll shift into 2nd and wont shift back down when I floor it, just climb up. Even driving at highway speeds, I'll mash it to the floor at the moment I need it, and the truck just bogs. But, if I let off the throttle a lil bit she downshifts one gear (still sucks) and pulls a lil bit.

Its driving me ******* crazy. So what I'm asking is when the torque converter locks up, it just bogs and doesnt downshift or its the other way around?

torque converter lock/unlock settings and trans shift settings are completely independent, aside from the shift lock which can keep the converter locked during a shift (Very hard on the trans)

I spent weeks dialing in just how I wanted my truck to shift....then got to do it all over again when I got my stall. Trans and TCC settings are very touchy feely and take a while to get exactly how you want it, and everyone is different in how they want their truck to drive.

Yeah I had heard that too. I was hoping they were related but ****, I wonder what it could be? Guess I'll just have to get him back in the truck and do some more flogging/logging.....

What would make the process much easier on him is to write down what you want changed and basically guess how much throttle you are giving it and note the speed.

For instance, I want mine to downshift less around 20mph mark, so I would write down downshift less -20mph- 25% throttle. Or shift to 3rd sooner at about 40% throttle at 60.

Get my drift? When Im tuning trans settings I make mental notes of this then change it later since the shift tables are defined by gear, mph, and throttle %.

Man. This tuning stuff is very new to me; its amazing what all can be changed, and how much time it takes to get it just right. And as soon as you do, you change your setup.

As a much more experienced tuner told me once, tuning is not an event, its a never-ending process.

Heres my shift table and tcc settings for what its worth,

these tables took hours to get where I wanted them, but I guess im a bored perfectionist to most.
