I don't think you have to but to get the most out of it you need to re-tune for it.

I had to firm up my shifts cause it made them softer after installing it. Also I notice that now my WOT shift RPMs actually go a little beyond what they are set too so depending on where you have yours, you may have to lower them a hair.
