I have an 06 denali and Nelson gave me an 04 PCM. Do you think that would make a difference? Not trying to change thread but kind of the same subject. I bought HPTuners last Thursday and concerned with the same questions. I still have my 06 PCM in box but had to do a security relearn for the 04 PCM when I had the kit installed.

Go with the 02 PCM, It solved my false knock issue. Just make sure you get HPtuner for an 02 truck

The great thing about hptuners is you can also compare two different operating systems against each other to see any differences between them

Changing over tables from one to the other is just a couple of clicks away as well

Swapping an 02 PCM into my 99 made a world of difference, both tuned and untuned. After my cam swap, I was getting 7.9* of KR every time I just opened the throttle with the 99 PCM, both with and without tuning...the 02 PCM solved that, even without tuning. Once the 02 PCM was tuned, it was awesome. From what info I've gathered, the 01-02 PCM's have a different OS and more parameters that can be adjusted. Another item that the 99's have that's different is the injectors...they flow less than 00 and up (something like 19 or 21 lb vs 24.7 lb).

Why not just adjust your tune to desensitize the potential KR issues? I bought an '02 PCM b/c everyone expressed the opinion of false knock, and having no workaround. I got "knee-deep" into my tune, and have no issue with false KR. Depending on weather conditions, I maaaaaaaay see 1 degree or so, but that's about it. I've talked to pro tuners local to the BR area, and they agree that sure false KR seems to be an issue, but can be eliminated w/o having to buy an '02 PCM. Is this a load-o-crap, and am I seeing mirages with my logs?

ive been told the same thing, that you can eliminate the problems without getting rid of th 99 pcm. i currently have a F'd up 00 model pcm that i bought from dub silverado,it was supposed to be a nelson tune, and supposed to be unlocked, but it runs like **** and its locked.matt and nick were gonna fix it for me but it was locked so the ycant, we did run a log on it while driving down the interstat a lil bit ans i had some bad knock issues. so i still have my stock 99 pcm that came in my truck. im gonna bring it to futral to program the 99,when i get my e fans in the mail.
