THANKS TO SPOOLIN I HAVE HPT TO PLAY WITH FOR AWHILE
THANKS BROTHER
OK I HAVE A PRETTY MUCH ALL STOCK 2006 4.8 ECSB 1500
THE ONLY MODS ARE
SONNAX 4TH GEAR SERVO
VETTE 2-3 SERVO
ALUMINUM ACCUM PISTONS
TRANSGO ZINC PLATED SPACER PLATE (UNDRILLED)
AND THE SET SCREW TURNED A LITTLE ON THE PC SOLENOID.
WHERE SHOULD I START ON THE TUNING?
I WILL POST A TUNE TONIGHT IF I CAN GET INTERNET. IM JUST LEARNING THIS, AND IM SORRY IF THIS IS A NOOB QUESTION.... I HAVE BEEN READING THE HPT NOOB FORUM AREA, BUT JUST TRYING TO DABBLE A LIL TO SEE HOW TO READ EVERYTHING CORRECTLY.... LIKE WHEN I LOOK AT THE TQ MANAGEMENT IT SHOWS "0" ACROSS THE BOARD, AND LIKE 30-45 ON TOW/HAUL MODE... SO DOES ZERO MEAN FULL TQ MANAGEMENT AND THE 30-45 MEAN 30-45 % REMOVED??
ONCE AGAIN IM SORRY DONT MEAN TO SEEM NOOB, JUST KNOW YOU GUYS DEFINITELY GOT A BETTER GRASP ON THIS THAN ME
I HAVE ALREADY PULLED MY STOCK TUNE OFF

That would be a no on the TM. 0 means no torque reduction during the shifts. There is more TM in Performance/Tow haul mode due to the anticipation of pulling a trailer and wanting to save the tranny from that stress.
I would disable abuse mode to start and then check out the TM setting in the Engine tab. Doesn't really look like a stock 4.8 file has much TM for the normal settings. Ohhh there it is
Check the spark retard in the TM section of the engine tab...Set that sucker to 0000000

I'm no expert, but I can look...
I am looking at a stock file for a 2006 4.8L from the repository now.
I made this edit to the other post you might of missed....Ohhh there it is (TM) Check the spark retard in the TM section of the engine tab...Set that sucker to 0000000

I'll take a look too. The biggest improvement in the stock tune is going to be the PE enable rate. I have a list somewhere of changes to the stock tune I made that dropped .8 in the 1/4. all you need to do to disable TM is goto
trans>TM>abusemode>
disable abuse mode
RPM set to 8000
TPS to 100%
Speed to 0
Also, goto engine>TM>abuse>
RPM set to 8000
Speed to 0
For the PE fix, goto engine>fuel control>Power Enrich>
set enrichment rate to 2.0
The EQ ratio vs RPM is the value that the PCM uses to command a WOT AFR. Well, it doesn't technically have to be WOT since you can set the PE enable parameters to whatever you want.
Also, a HUGE fix for the PE too is to change the delay RPM to 0
That's about it for basic changes. I would mess around with the shift settings to get a feel for what you like. My shifts are very nice and smooth, but quick. If you want some info on my shift settings just lemme know.
A good way to tune the spark tables is to increase the table by about 10-20% and start logging with vcm scanner. look at the the knock retard table and if you see any knock just figure out what cell and correct for it in the spark tables. I think I have an average of 6* of timing over stock throughout my tables.
Sorry to ramble on lol. Just tryin to help. I was lost when I first started and didn't have much guidance except 5LiterEater from hptforums. He's a badass with HPTuners.

a little note regarding the PE EQ ratio. The numbers listed are what the PCM uses to calculate the commanded afr like I said above, the way it works is they take stoich.(14.68) and divide it by whatever number is in that cell.
For instance:
At 5200 RPM (around peak HP) the value is 1.235
Take 14.68 and divide it by 1.235 and you get your extremely fat commanded afr of 11.89

Again, sorry for a buncha posts:
The PE EQ ratio gets you pretty damn close to actual afr. I have my PE EQ set across the board to 1.175 which should command a 12.5'ish. I dyno'd the other day and logged the commanded 12.5'ish commanded with VCM Scanner and the dyno's w/b picked up a 13.0 flat across the board. I was impressed that it got within 4% to be honest, but still I was happy.

There are a few more places to fully disable TM if that is what you want to do. I agree with most of what jake has said (kind of) setting the enrichment rate to 2 is fine, but I don't think anything over 1 makes much difference. I also don't think setting the delay rpm to 0 is best usually you want that set to your stall speed, don't know what the stock stall speed is though.
The PE EQ ratio table is set very rich in stock form.

If you look at the enrichment rate info the max is 4 and min is 0. I notice a difference when looking at log graphs when it's set to 4.0 vs. 2.0
the delay RPM doesn't really matter if it's lower than the stall speed. You just want it to be at or below the stall. You aren't going to enter PE unless you go bigger than 90% throttle and by then you're already at stall speed.
