Default Issue with my engine swap..

Hey guys...

Still having issues with the ecu and cluster on my Tahoe after I swapped in the cummins

I'm getting a "Reduced Engine Power" message on the read out even just clicking the key on

I just got the ecu back from blackbear... I'm not showing any codes exept a "no communication with ecu" code that is current. I'm assuming the problems are hand in hand.

The only sensors I retained from the 5.3 I pulled are oil pressure, crank position, and coolant temp. Everything else is gone and all codes turned off/disabled.

Any ideas?

Ground issue perhaps? The gauge cluster is getting a signal from the ecu... so I don't understand the no communication code that is current.

I cant recall the exact codes... one was a U0--- (forgot the last 3) and its description was "Lost Communication with ECM"

Oddly enough... while driving home today... the CEL shut off, all the gauges started working fine... and then the "Reduced Engine Power" message came up.

I'm also trying to figure out what triggers the "Reduced Engine Power" message so that I can get rid of it.

If the CEL is on and the 3 gauges mentioned are not working, the "Reduced Engine Power" message goes away and the odometer is displayed. When the CEL went out and the gauges came up, that message came back up and wont let me access the odometer.

I don't understand why its doing this intermittently...

Otherwise, blackbear did what they said they would and I have no engine/trans related trouble codes.

The BCM is what's controlling your REP codes, you have a quasi-CAN-bus that's now missing some data. I think it might be quite difficult to turn off, as well.

What has me puzzled is that its not consistent at all. I'm curios what sensor is missing that the bcm doesn't like since the only sensors that I deleted that I could see causing an issue are...

Maf
Cam position
Trans range sensor (which I plan to add on soon)

Now I still have all the plugs and left pigtails at the ecu that I can tie back into.. so I can reinstall sensors... just not sure about getting them a signal.

The maf won't be hard... just plumb it into the suction side of the Turbo and hope that it doesn't max it out and cause problems there.

Suggestions?

He put a diesel engine in, completely different system and hence the issue. The REP in Acid's case means squat and doesn't affect performance, just an annoying feature.
