not to steer you away from hp tuners (as i have it myself) but justin with black bear teaches efi live classes and also sell's efi live and im pretty sure he gives a free basic tune with it as well.pretty good deal i think.

im no where near "experienced" at all but i do love being able to change things around.

i want to do the same... i'm about to install a blower on the SS and have used Westers on my last 2 trucks. My tunes have been safe, but i am craving more... I think i have a fast learning curve, but really wish i could sit down with someone to get a lesson in person. I'd be super nervous about starting from scratch on a blown application.

Another question, not sure if it's off topic or not... Can you use EFIlive or HPT as scan tools on any OBDII vehicle? just GM? or just the vehicles you have licensed?

I have a code reader for doing backyard crap, but if I could use one of the tuning softwares for that I would be even more inclined to purchase it, especially if it would clear codes.

I think it would be great to learn how to tune your own truck. My question is has anyone went to the class that EFI University offers on EFI Live. Not that I have the money right now but think that it would help out on a learning curve.

I picked up a copy of EFI Live from Justin @ Blackbear performance last year and he has been a great help with my tuning. It's not easy but it is exciting and fullfilling know that I have a hand in the tuning. Slowly I'm learning a little each time I fire up the software and thats perfect for me.

Don't be so sure on that. I've owned mine since Nov. '05. This summer I think I'll be getting more involved tho. I've done some scans to see what's going on, & cleared DTCs so far. Once I have the scans, I believe the magic is knowing what they mean, & workin from there. For me, baby steps...but a start.

You work @ HPT. You had no tun'g experience beforehand. Seriously? I thought you were 1 of the developers? Or are you (personally) in sales?

I never look at it like "allowing an old dummy...", cause if you never ask the questions in the 1st place, how will 1 learn?

+1. It would be cool to sit 1 on 1 & learn from someone that knows what's going on. LoweredZ71, & Big, that nervousness has stopped me thus far. BTW, I don't have any hair to brush. Some call me Mr. Kleen or Qtip.
