Question How many "never before" tuners

Ive read alot of the tuning guides and all on here... seems like a lot of stuff... but how hard is it really to self educate with custom tuning... hpt or efi live... how many of you fellas had never tuned before and can more than hold your own now?... not asking for anyone to give me a step by step... just wondering is it worth me buying my own software if ive never tuned before.... thanx in advance...

if your just wanting to tune your own then its almost not worth it, a good mail order say from Black Bear Performance would be your best bet.
If you have some big plans for your truck like FI then its worth it.

I liked it. Got the software then started tuning my truck about a month later. Then went OLSD COS3 with a 2 bar MAP within two months lol. Its been a lot of fun. Can be a bit frustrating at times. I have done a few friends as well now...

I got it for my own and I'm glad I did. I'm good at learning new things and owning it myself lets me update it myself for future mods and scan for problems.
I've already used EFILIVE on my moms vehicle to check for problems, so I didn't have to go anywhere to have it done.
If your capable of learning things without much trouble than I say it's worth it.

I've done it, but it helps if you if you have someone to help "guide" you, also I find people that really understand how an engine works, picks up on it faster...

Very true. And that is where this site really comes into play.
I've gotten alot of help from Tyler because he's a friend of mine. But Also off here from Corey and from everyone that's posted to my tuning threads.
If you aren't sure about it. Read through some of the tuning threads and try to gather some knowledge. You can also download the software from hpt and EFIlives websites to play around with.

The fact you are even thinking about tuning it yourself (skipperdaddy) shows you have enough interest, and with a LOT of reading, you will tune well, and enjoy doing it..
