Question how to get better mpg?

I own a 2001 chevy k1500 4x4 with a 6.0 and will be getting stationed around 300 miles from family and suddenly now bieng challenged with the age old question? How to get better gas fuel economy. Now i already changed my air flow system to a more direct flow and changed my mufflar to better flowing exhaust and have gained some but is thier anything else that i can do? I read some articles about tuning but from what i have looked up they are running around 300+$. is their any one who can give a better way than what i all ready have done? I live in southern maryland and will be moving to VA beach

Best increase in MPG is going to be weight reduction and a custom Tune.

get it fully bolt on... LT headers, CAI system, 3" y-pipe, muffler, and e-fans... those will all help you out plus the tune.

Custom tune. I get around 18-21 driving it hard most of the time, and 22-23 on the interstate. I bought a motorcycle to save gas though.
