Lightbulb Homemade laptop mount (finished pics post#18)

Well it may not be pretty but it's functional. It puts the laptop in easy view and easy reach. The clamps hold it solid. I plan on covering it with vinyl or some fabric to make it a liitle more asthetically pleasing. Let me know what you think.

Nice work, I bet it will look WAY good once you put the fabric on it...

Cool, what will stop it from moving backwards when you punch it? I can see that looking real nice if you cover it or sand it down and throw some stain and poly on it.....with some velcro or something on the bottom of course.

Looks good!

Looks like a top notch clamp system! I like it, cheap and very effective.

Ahhh, i missed the mini-clamps. How about some strategically placed cleats to keep it from moving left or right or back or forward. A 6" x 6" piece of velcro works nice too.

I may be stealing this idea from you with a few minor modifications. Can you build a proprietary EFILIve docking station into that platform?...

Hmm you're right......that mounting location is going to make it difficult for her to lean over into the driver seat....

I will just put her in charge of making sure the USB cord stays in...LOL

Cheap? That was the most expensive part.
Actually, I thought about the velcro thing but I didn't want that sticky crap on my laptop. The glue gives way after a while.

At least they're good for something.

The legs hold it tight against the console.

how about gluing speaker box carpet to it. that would look really clean and then you can use velcro if you needed to. i love the high tech engineering btw.
