EFIlive 4l80e tranny file help
#1
Ok, I did a 4l80e swap in my truck. Completely rebuilt tranny, new converter, cleaned lines, everything the way it should be. I had my tuner do a tune for me for the tranny, and I drove it about 200 miles. I dropped the pan to change to a deep pan, and noticed a major amount of brass in the pan. It appears that the converter got hot, melted the braze, expanded the snout, and cracked the front pump. I sent the converter back to the manufacturer, and can't think what could have caused this. I am down to either a defective converter or my converter was not locking up. Can someone let me see their file for their converter so I can compare how mine locks up?

Man that sucks.
I have been inquiring about the 4L80E segment swap,
Was Told if you email your tune to EFI Live they will do it for you.
Wander if they could help you by at least comparing what you have to what they have.
I dont have this part done yet, i wish i could help.
Bump for ya.

If you have EFI Live, go to holdencrazy.com, and grab a tune file with your OS (operating system) that is using a 4l80e, and do a segment swap. That part isn't too hard, I am just not 100% sure my converter was even locking up. I am not sure what people are doing that are running similar combos.

I don't have a temp gauge in it. I would have liked one in it, but wanted to keep the Joe Gibbs cluster. I barely even got into it though. It really should have never even gotten hot at all. When I shut it off, I put my hand on the converter about 45 min after driving it (i never even took it over 1/4 throttle) and it was still hot. It sort of scares me that I don't know what could have caused this. I don't want to put it back together and go through this in another 200 miles.

To do a 4l80e segment swap just get a 4l80e tune file that has the same OS as your truck. Then Go to the edit menu and copy Entire segment. You need to copy the transmission calibration and the trans diagnostics. just save it and do a full flash.
