Default Climbing IAT's in stanging lanes = slow E.T.'s

Since the weather has gotten warmer, my times have slowed down over half a second... I feel like my truck should be able to run 14.999999, but last time at the track i couldn't get down past 15.5. Finally, I logged a run with my HPT scanner and saw that my IAT's were reading 125*+ by the time i waited in the staging lanes and got to the tree... Truck was pulling 7~ish degrees or more of timing due to the high IAT's from heatsoak.

I know there's a table in HPT that advances/retards timing based on IAT vs G/CYL... I mellowed out the 77* to 113* cells, but it seems like I need to mellow out the whole damn table for a track only tune... I know that once i do the burnout and when I'm making a pass, the IAT's aren't really that high, but the IAT sensor is just heat soaked...

Thoughts?

Do you have a "cold air kit"
Try running something and taking your head light out so you get some fresh air.

its a Spectre "cold air" kit. and I always run with the headlight out. Problem is just heatsoak from sitting in the staging lane with the engine running. I can't really kill the engine because the line is always moving.

If your staging lane is anything like our local track, you have time to open your hood and let it cool off lol. Also, bring a squirt bottle to spray on your intake and intake pipes, etc. Water will pull the heat out a little better. This makes a huge difference when sprayed on an intercooler

It takes mine awhile to get up to 125 IATs with the stock box and intake while idling with the AC on eating lunch. So either yall have a really really long slow line at the track or your pulling in alot of heat out of the engine bay.

If the line is moving that quickly do this; Line up directly behind someone, kill engine, keep fans going...wait until you have about 3 or 4 spots open up ahead of you, fire up truck, pull forward, kill engine, run fans...just keep doing this until you are pulled out.

I did it all the time with my LT1 car when I was big into bracket racing. Makes for deadly consistent and much lower ETs vs. sitting there letting it run and heat up.

Clutch fan here

I may try making some sort elbow that puts the intake opening lower in the fender and try to move the MAF down there

Anything you can do to reduce under-hood temps should help. Pop the hood and pull through the lanes with it up and close it once you are first in line. I have done that as well. People looked at me funny, but it works.
