Default Ck Engine Light Problem

Hey guys

yesterday i installed my pacesetter LTs and made my exhaust a true dual set up with this with no cats

i also installed my nelson tune which i was really excited about

the problem: ck engine light is on but when using the snap-on scan tool that my dad has used for years on customers cars is not reading when plugged in. he is concerned it is the tune. i unplugged the battery and the ck engine light came on again after less than 20 miles. any help would be greatly appreciated

ps i ordered my tune and exhaust the same day and informed nelson performance that i was removing my cats is this maybe the lack of rear o2 sensors, did they not delete them in the tune? why cant the scan tool talk to my truck?

thanks for any help

If the light is on the scan tool should pick it up, and if the light is on there is a code. Not sure why its not reading it. Try going to a local parts store that will read codes. Auto Zone, Advance Auto etc. See if their's will read it. Also in my expirence rear 02 sensors will not throw a code for a couple drive cycles.

He's right, there is a code, could be rear 02's, but you need to get a different scan tool or something, cause the code is there.

Check you cig fuse. If its bad, scan tool's cannot connect, as it powers the OBDII port

ive been told that if the cigarette lighter does not work (the fuse is blown) then the ck engine light will not come on in some cars is this true with these trucks? i checked the ECM fuse under the hood cuz i was told that is the cigarette lighter fuse and that is not blown am i looking at the right fuse?

I thought the cig fuse was on the side of the dash, I cant remember now. The check engine light will still work but the OBDII port will not. When the fuse blows the OBDII port looses its 12v supply.

On the trucks the cig fuse is in the fuse box under the hood.If that fuse is blown of course it can still throw codes but the ALDL port will not have any power goin to it
