Question ABS EBCM pains 2003 silverado ss

hi there new to the forum i like it alot.
my truck is a 2003 silverado ss 65000 miles
after storage for the last 18 months i took it to get gas and when i was driving it the abs light came up, and it sounded like a pump was stuck on. the break pedal goes pretty low and mush.. i took it home and sourced the noise to the abs controller on the drivers side frame rail or the EBCM electronic brake control module. the vacumm for the brakes stays on even with the key out so i took out the abs fuse and the noise ceased. before i spend 800$ on the new EBCM does anyone have any ideas what it could be. or if this is the best way to fix it.? has anyone sent there module out to be fixed, or reworked it themselves.? thanks alot also what are the dangers of running with abs unconnected!

You need to test the wheel sensors first.

If the pump is running constantly then the EBCM needs replacement. Never sent one in to be repaired but have a friend that tried it and had good luck.

Like mentioned you should check your sensors first or for any codes. But you can send it off and get it rebuilt for alot less from what ive read and works just as good, and you can still drive it without it or abs, the brakes will work fine you will just not have any abs aka lockup control like on ice or gravel etc..
