2002 DBW PCM no good for 2 bar even with a COS
So I am trying to get a tune built for my latest project. I want to go 2 bar as I will be running 12psi or so. Well my 2002 Tahoe is a rare breed. It has the DBW 87mm TB and a 512kb red/blue connection PCM 122004141. There are only 2 or 3 Operating Systems (OS) that run this combo in a 2002 Chevy truck. None of these have a Custom Operating System (COS) associated with it using EFI Live.
I am left with 2 choices:
1.Swap to a drive by cable throttle body.
2.Swap to a 1mb 2003+ PCM, TAC, and maybe the pedal assy.
I am actually leaning towards option 2. My question is will my 2002 wiring harness hook up? Will I need to swap pins around or does Speartech or EFI Connection make a harness for such a thing?
I need anyone who has upgraded to post up. As the truck sits I can’t do anything even after I get the engine in except maybe scale the injectors to get it started and idle but no way to tune it for WOT.
I have been on the EFI Live forums, E-mailed Justin@BlackBear several times, and talked to a dyno shop in Dallas. No one has a work around for this.
Help

Ya it sux *** i have one i have had laying around for awhile cuz i dreaded messing with it but due to my latest BRIGHT IDEA i have decided to modifie this harness to DBC and make it custom lengths to clean up my engine bay , instead of trashing my perfectly good previous harness, just incase i F*cked something up lol...
I cant find much info on these harneses its a pain..
Its not bad converting it to DBC just follow the instruction for the blue/green wiring diagram.(I HOPE) but im still trying to figure out the o2 sensor part.. should get to it tomorrow..

In his case that’s true, but there were a few others that were like equipped without traction control. Trucks such as my ’01 C³ came with ETC, but not traction control, as did the ’02 Sierra Denali’s. For the most part though, only vehicles with traction control came this way before 2003.

Chris, I think your best bet is to just convert it to DBC and re-pin the PCM for the TPS and IAT and then you can run COS5 and be done with it. Converting to the 1 meg PCM and keeping the DBW I think would be harder then the cable setup with more problems. I know Allen Nelson as converted a few 03+ DBW's to 02 DBC with repining them and switching to the 0411 PCM's. You might talk to him about it.
Other wise your only option is to tune it 1 bar with the Maf and then the last row of the VE once it maxes, which is possible, but not ideal. But it works for Stock48,

Spoke to Nelson Performance. I was told to contact Allen directly with my questions which I did via email.
I have been in contact with Wheatley as well. He said he has found a COS from HPT that will work with my OS. That's what the gurus at HPT told him anyway. I am sending my PCM to Wheatley to have the HPT COS loaded and my current calibration information put into the new HPT COS.
This still leaves me un-tuned for my new setup but a little closer to getting there. What I need now is a tuner who is willing to do a 2-bar map boosted tune via the mail or through email (using HPT now) to get me running...Wheatley said he doesn't do 2-bar except in person.
I am about to buy HPT so I can fool with this thing but I need to find a tuner first. Anybody have any suggestions?
