Default 08 silverado cold idle issues

I have an idle problem on cold start up. When I first start it the idle will stay fast and then almost die, then do it again until i give it some gas or it warms up. Then it's fine. On occasion the SES light comes on and then goes off with no rhyme or reason. Is this an intake gasket issue or something else? I haven't checked codes yet.

Probably a throttle position sensor code due to a dirty throttle body, a bad throttle position sensor or both. There is a special policy to replace the throttle position sensor and entire throttle body if necessary for a cold start reduced engine power with such and such throttle related DTC concern. I bet I've done a hundred of them.

It was mainly 08s and some 09s that had the problem but any of them 07-2012 can have the problem. I think they may have gotten it lined out in time for the 2013s but then fucked it all up again for the 2014s. First recall off the transport truck was replace the throttle body and reprogram the ECM on the 2014s. My throttle cable has yet to set a code or go into reduced power mode. Stupid unreliable throttle cables and their smooth and instant response...

there isn't exactly a "TPS" sensor in 08's. Change your throttle body bud see if it works out, if not, take it to the dealer so they upload the latest OS.

Yes there is. The black plastic cover on the side that contains the throttle position sensors can be changed.

Oldred95 speaks the truth, but pull the codes. Could be anything until you know what codes its throwing.
