You might be racing a police officer.

I've seen a Highway Patrol cut across 3 lanes of traffic to hit an off ramp and not signal.
Your license plate is supposed to be visible from like 1500 feet or something in Oklahoma and cops still insist on almost touching bumpers with you to read it.
Some of them do it just to see if you speed up.
A guy I know sped up and they pulled him over. I say, If he's that close to you, he won't see that dog run out in front of you.

If its so insignificant, then why are you doing it??
If you get busted like that and are hellbent on arguing then do so. Thats why you're given the option to take your ticket to traffic court. Good luck making a good case as to why you shouldnt have been given a ticket while speeding in a school zone.
In a residential area, i'd say a verbal warning. In a school zone your dumb *** should know better.
In the end, the cop was in the right and the old lady was in the wrong.

all speedometers are not perfect. it is very easy for a speedometer to be off by 3 mph. maybe she got new tires and they are a size different and no one told her so the speedometer is a little off. 3 mph is way to little to show someone is deliberatly speeding without caring for laws

In my experience (calling police for a drunk man in the street assaulting his wife, and shoplifting at my store twice) police take FOREVER to even get there. It took almost an hour for a cop car to even show up when me and some friends called them when a drunk man was running through the streets yelling and pushing his wife and cussing at her, which of course he was gone by the time they got there. It took the police over an hour to respond to a forgery on a fake check at my work, and about an hour on a seperate ocasion when someone tried stealing oil.
But no, they'll be happy to pull you over for not stopping at a stop sign for a full 3 seconds and give you a ticket, then drive off and do the exact same thing and not even use a signal. Speaking of not using a signal, how many of you guys have followed a cop car and seen them repeatedly change lanes and make turns without using a signal?

policeYou don't have to stop for 3 seconds, you just have to come to a complete stop. Also, if you read Texas traffic laws they state police officers are exempt. Like it or not, police officers don't have to signal turns/lane changes or stop at stop signs in Texas.
me and my parents have called on drunk drivers right in front of us on the road running people off and hitting signs and they wouldnt show up. i even stopped at a place with one who was sitting in their car and they wouldnt come.
but when i was playing with a nitro rc car they came to my house because it was too loud. so what exactly are they doing when they cant respond to something as serious as a drunk driver??

How do you know she hasn't had warnings before?

The guy did steal the oil, and it wasn't the cheap ****. Over $50 worth.
Also, an drunk man running through the streets screaming and assualting his wife isn't an important call? Thats rediculous.
And why are policemen exempt from stopping at stop signs or using their signals. I thought that was only if they were in pursuit of someone or on their way to a high level call. This cop was not on his way to a call, and didn't have this emergency lights on. He was just driving through the neighborhood. What makes him so special he doesn't have to go by the rules, nobody is above the law...
25 mph is much different than 18 mph. 10 mph over is alot more noticable to the eye, and does cut down on reaction time and increases braking distances. I do think that 25 in a school zone should get a ticket, but 18 mph is just retarded. I could jump from 15mph to 18 in my truck without even knowing it. Tickets aren't to punish people for accidently going a few mph over the speedlimit, its for punishing repeat offenders or people blatently pushing the limits and breaking the law (in traffic offenses anyways)

I don't know what your problem is, but it's obvious you have your mind made up and aren't going to change it. It doesn't really matter to me what you think, I just think both sides should be presented.

i dont know the laws in texas, but down here in florida the law goes like this.
if going between 5 or less over the speed limit = verbal warning.
if going 10-15 over = citation/written warning. (up to the officer)
if going 25 or greater over the limit = court summons
IMO a citation for 3 miles over the limt is fugged up! regardless if she has had warnings, 3 miles is so insignificant. its cop's like that remind me why when the sheriffs office calls for a donation, i tell them i work at a dunkin-doughnuts and jerk-off on every officers doughnut, and that's my donation

Also most of the local school zones here have put up radar signs that will display your speed if you go above the limit and even say "slow down" when you're going too fast.
Although i wish they'd do "slow down moron".

I'm not really sure why this is an arguement?? Its not like we're discussing mild speeding on a busy road. We're talking about a school zone. As much as i'm all about moron control...hitting kids is not the way to go about it.
