I've seen a Highway Patrol cut across 3 lanes of traffic to hit an off ramp and not signal.
Your license plate is supposed to be visible from like 1500 feet or something in Oklahoma and cops still insist on almost touching bumpers with you to read it.
Some of them do it just to see if you speed up.
A guy I know sped up and they pulled him over. I say, If he's that close to you, he won't see that dog run out in front of you.

uhm, then don't speed in a school zone.

We live in an imperfect world and sometimes you get pulled over for a petty violation because there may not be anything pressing at the moment.

Plus that ticket was up to the cops discretion. Personally i have no tolerance for people that speed in school zones.

The difference between 18 mph and 15 mph is so small and insignificant that you wouldn't be able to tell by watching the car moving, and the reaction time at 18mph is the same at 15 mph. Hell, I bet even braking distances would be so close you would need a ruler to measure the difference. I see no reason why that ticket should've been given besides the obvious smart *** answer that it was over the legal limit. Sitiuations like that should call for a verbal warning, or a quick flash of the lights to let the person know they're in the wrong.

Also, if the cops don't have any important calls, that is a good thing and means the environment is safe, not an excuse to screw tax paying citizens for even more money by issuing rediculous tickets.

If its so insignificant, then why are you doing it??

If you get busted like that and are hellbent on arguing then do so. Thats why you're given the option to take your ticket to traffic court. Good luck making a good case as to why you shouldnt have been given a ticket while speeding in a school zone.

In a residential area, i'd say a verbal warning. In a school zone your dumb *** should know better.

In the end, the cop was in the right and the old lady was in the wrong.

So fining someone $200+ for 3mph over the posted speed limit is fine with you?

In a school zone, yes.
