What does everyone do to get/stay in shape?

Sweet tea with artificial sugars isn't going to be good for you, but I'm positive even the grossest sweet tea has nothing on how unhealthy sodas are
But just normal tea, hot tea or green/ other foreign tea mixes are going to be very healthy and are proven to help all different parts of the body....

Cool to see how everyone else has tried to better themselves this year.
I was 279# January 1. Very unhappy with myself. Decided it was time for a change. I prolly used to eat somewhere in the neighborhood of 3000-5000 calories a day...Of nothing but ****...It was ridiculous. I cut myself down to 1500 calories and drinking half my body weight in ounces of water a day(yeah started out at a 140oz water). No pop, no candy, no vending machine trips PERIOD. Did that for a few weeks then went to 1200 calories now less than 1000 calories a day and at least 120oz of water. I try to eat lean proteins so as not to lose muscle mass or strength. So far I'm down around 40#, kind of hovering around 239 to 241. I've kind of slacked off the past few weeks because it's just been busy for some reason and been around a lot of food...Still no junk food, but delicious food none the less lol
I started running monday-thursday and doing situps and pushups twice daily to hopefully get these last 20# gone. I feel so much better. So far I've went from a 42 waist to a 38. An XL shirt still doesn't fit the way I like but a 2xl is pretty baggy. I think realistically I'll get down to around 220#, but I have this feeling once I get there I may want to go ahead and try for 200. We'll just have to see

40 mins everyday on an elliptical is a damn good start IMO. Should be anywhere from 400-600 calories right there.
If you want to accelerate the weight loss, I recommend eating more meals that are smaller. I try to start with a 500 cal breakfast and eat every 2.5 to 3 hours after. Last meal should be the smallest, around 300 cals. (Think lean meat, rice/potato, veggie) You will end up eating 5-6 times a day. All of these meals are pretty small.
Try one of the basal metabolic rate calculators online. Whatever that number is, subtract 500 and that should be your total calorie intake target for the day. 3500 calories deficit a week will be about a pound a week. Healthy fat loss. Its always better to burn it off than starve it off though....
As you can imagine, you can't do the meal thing by yourself. Its a significant change and your wife would probably hhave to do it with you.
