you guys ever do any overseas travel? this sh_t sucks. it took me almost exactly 24 hours to get from my home in Michigan to my kinda strange hotel room in S. Korea. thought i'd get a layover at LAX but straight to the Tokyo hub. i'm damn exhausted, next time i'm gonna reimburse work whatever it costs to get a seat in business class. coach seats... i'd rather be strung up on some kind of barbaric torture device.

Do you have any noise canceling headphones? It really helps to keep that drone from wearing you out. Granted, 24 hours of travel will kill you no matter what, but every little bit helps. I was almost sent to Kuwait, which would have been kind of fun, but the 22-26 hours of flying wouldn't have been. Now I just travel between Houston and Minneapolis, so it's not too bad . Good luck.

i don't know if you can read it in the pic, but this is the "fire escape device" located in my room:

they're very advanced over here

and i don't have the noise cancellers, but i've been looking into them a bit. in my mind i was kinda thinking it was a scam, but hell, they're not much $, i'll pick up a set for the trip home in a month

Nice . Is that a flashlight in there with the rope?

My dad used to travel quite a bit and ended up trying out a set of the noise canceling headphones to great success. I didn't believe it either, but the rest of my family swore by it, as well as many others. Heck, I usually just want to get rid of the noise coming from the idiots I normally get stuck next to. Oh well, 6:30am flight tomorrow morning to Cali. San Diego, here I come!

Good luck in Korea, I know several people that lived there for a couple years and would love to go back, so know that there are people that are jealous of you right now .

yea its quite a place, theres a US AFB down the street, which equals like a hundred and fifty bars down the street, including the basement of my hotel, that is good.

yea they were nice enough to give me a flashlight with my fire escape rope, part of the kit i guess.

def. a different world over here, but the women seem to be very nice...(honey, i hope you're not reading this...)

no trucks though. all i've seen so far truck wise has been cab over box trucks, cars are hyundais, daewoo's, kia's, and a VW. theres a bmw dealer nearby and a volvo dealer as well, but haven't seen any on the street. any interesting **** i see, expect pictures!

btw, i'm doing a job at ssang young motors. never heard of them, but i guess they have enough money to send us here. i believe they're owned by a company out of china called SAIC. http://www.smotor.com/en/index.jsp is there website, my job is to set up robots to paint their cars. (i work for this company: http://www.fanucrobotics.com/23_998_...ng+Robots.html )

Cool stuff!! I'll be stationed at Osan Air Base, South Korea starting in May. I'm looking forward to the new experience and culture change. Yeah, overseas travel is very tough on your routine and body clock. Two years ago, I departed Newark, NJ for Sweden at around 1 PM. I finally arrived in Sweden at approx. 7 AM the next day! I never felt so tired in my life and I still had an entire day ahead of me. I've already heard alot of stories about Korea. Do you have any advice or stories?

bro, i'm staying like 200 yards from Osan AFB! Korea's great, there's a shiton of bars around here, courtesy of the US influence... only problem with the bars is the "juicy girls". you sit down have a drink, then some chick sits next to you, talks to you, then some other women comes by to make you buy her a drink, "juice". a beer is like 2500 won, or $2.50 (local beer) and the "juice" is like ten bucks. but thats how they make their money. you'll be here in may huh? i'm coming back in the end of july for another project, i'll be here through august, we'll have to get together around then
