I looked through his parts list, it all sounds pretty good to me.

I personally prefer intel mother boards, but ASUS is an excellent board. I also prefer Geforce video cards, however, I am not a gamer and don't get real concerned with all that.

I get more concerned with good sound cards, because I use my computer like a juke box ALOT.

i like the gigabyte boards over asus or msi.
p35 and p45 series have a good built in sound card, most are 5.1 but a few are 7.1.
logitech makes a few good systems, seeing it is fine but you have to hear it too.

just remember on memory you need atleast 4 gigs on vista, it is a memroy hog.

Couple questions here, from a non computer savvy dude. I know what an HDMI cable end is now, cause my new plasma has the ports. Is it the same on the computer end? If so, my laptop don't have it. And how do I configure my graphics settings to make it work with SVideo cable. I'm using Windows XP Media Edition (I think), if that helps. I'm interested in this too.

First of all an S-video cable will only deliver 480i at the max. This is NOT High Definition. For some people that works, but don't expect to take full advantage of a HDTV using an s-video cable.

Your best bet is a VGA cable if your laptop has it. Most older computers don't have the HDMI output so the next best and most common alternative is the VGA cable.

some HDTV's are made with both connections, VGA, and DVI.
for about 9.98 you can pick up a DVI to HDMI cable that is about 9 to 10 feet long for a full 1080p.

for thouse of you that want to do this.
all you need is the cable to connect the video card to the tv.
now something about the cards and blue ray.
ATI comes with and Nvidia comes with out but you can buy it off of Nvidia.
damn i forget, some kind of software.

just got mine hooked up and HOLY ****!!!!!!!!!!!!.
went in to Nvidias control panel and adjusted the screen fit, played with 480,720,1080 settings, picture looks damn good at 720P, pop in my game and it automaticly went to 1080i, pop in a dvd Harry Potters goblet of fire playing in 720p,
this is Fantastic, my wife is going to freak when she see this set up.
but then again everything is large enough to where she may not need her glasses to read.

i'll post some pics as soon i get them loaded.

ok got some pictures.
custom resolution on mine is 1366 x 768, the info on the tv reads it as 1080i.
the cheapest place to grab a cable is newegg.
the more i fine tune it, the better it looks.
