A small solar panel to power your house during the day would make up for the charging costs at night. Electricity is some of the cheapest in the country in my area so it would be a good investment if I was in the market for a brand new commuter car.

but when more and more people buy them, the electic companys have to produce more power.... burning more fuel, so price of electricity will go up.

The solar panel would work, but the goverment or producers need to make them more affordable.
