Default Bad news for diesel performance...

Got this from a local tuning shop, they posted this on Facebook..

Following shortly behind Edge products, SCT has also discontinued the sale and production of all Diesel branded "Race/Offroad" products. Seems to be a trend.

"Our decision to discontinue these products is based on recent statements made by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) regarding diesel performance products intended solely for racing/off-road use. The EPA and CARB have taken the position that the manufacturer of such products is solely responsible for the proper use of those products by the end-user. Despite our best efforts to carefully develop and implement procedures designed to ensure that each purchaser of our off-road/race-only products is aware of his or her legal obligations and promises to use those products in a lawful manner, as of this time we have not been able to gain satisfactory assurance that such measures will be considered adequate by the EPA and CARB. Consequently, we have chosen to withdraw our off-road/race-only products from the marketplace until we are able to verify that the sale of those products can be achieved in a manner that satisfies EPA’s and CARB’s concerns."

It's bad news, but if you rely on an Edge to make your diesel perform better, I'm sorry. Spartan, LPP, Smarty, even Bully Dog (if all else fails), etc. are all out there to do what they do best.

I don't know where in the hell my mind was at saying LPP. I meant PPE, which is AWESOME for breaking **** on a 425 tune. On anything short of a built Duramax, EFI Live can bow down to PPE...for about 30K miles until the truck blows on a 425 tune.

I used an sct tuner to put an innovative tune on my grandpas 6.0 though. Meaning it's a good custom tune medium

Thank your goverment guys!!!!

Real diesel guys use EFI Live anyway.

But very sad to see, as these tuners are usually the first step most people use as they enter the hobby, then learn their are better options.

I wondered the day when they would start cracking down on the diesel community.

We get this too with motorcycles, Callie passed a no aftermarket exhaust on sport bikes, I haven't read up on the whole issue but I don't remember if harleys shared it or not for sound lvl issues.
