Default Are these tires any good?

I'm thinking about new tires for my 4x4 and the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Pro-Grade tires have caught my eye. I like the idea behind the Kevlar re-enforced tread. I've mainly used the BFG All Terrains in the past, so I was hoping I could get some comments from anyone that has had experience with the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Pro-Grades. Thanks for your replies, memnoch.

those are great tires! better rolling resistance compared to the bfg's, great tread wear and life out of them.

yea I got almost 80k out of em on a stock tundra, have a semi aggressive tread I guess, but I prefer the BFG's just because they look great, and you still get great mileage and performance out of them.

Decent? Sure, for maybe the first 100 miles.

I will never put a Goodyear tire on anyone I care about and/or love. I see more Goodyears riddled with defects than I do all other tires combined. What gets me laughing the hardest is when dumb asses will come into my store and replace their 4 cupped, feathered and separated Goodyear Wrangler RT/S's with 4 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S's. It just goes to show the stupidity of some people.

The Silent Armor series from Goodyear is a hit and miss, mostly miss. In the past 4 years of the Silent Armor's existence, yesterday was the first time I've ever seen more than 80k miles on a set, I was really impressed with this Chevy Avalanche. The rears were bald, worse than a drag slick, but the fronts still had some tread left. Of which, the remaining tread was cupped and feathered like all Goodyears I see.

If you're seriously considering the Goodyear Silent Armors, you can find better for the price you'll end up paying. If the Silent Armors are $155, you can get a MUCH better tire in the Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO for $150/tire.

Thanks Inchup for the info. The main reason I am considering the silent armor is that Sams club keeps it in stock. They don't keep the BFG All Terrain in my size in stock. They do have the BFG Long Trail in stock tho. I do a lot of hunting trips to OK, NE, IN, SD and I like the ability if I tear up a tire to limp into a Sams and be taken care of. Hard to do with any of the "local" shops, ya know?! The Silent Armor tires are load range E and 6 ply tread. I haven't decided yet.

Either your research or your thinking is wrong on this, because a 6-ply tire is typically a "C" range tire. 10 ply tires are "E" rated for 80psi and usually over 3000lbs/tire. What size exactly were you looking for? 265/75R16 or 265/70R17?
