Default lowering question...

i have a 2008 ext cab texas edition silverado, and was wanting to lower it since it sits so high but i dont wanna lose the ride it has which is very smooth for a truck....will lowering it make me lose that quality ride or does it ride about the same depending on what lowering kit i use? sorry im new to the truck scene coming from the camaro ls1 scene...

You can start off by lowering the rear by removing the 2 inch lift block between the springs and axle. That alone will make a huge differance in the stance. On the nbs you use to be able to just decrank your torsion bars to lower it, but on the 2008's Im assuming you would have to get lowering kit, as far as ride, taking the lift block out should if anything make it a little better giving you better handling, sorry I couldnt be more help, hopefully others will chime in here soon. Also welcome to Performance trucks

Lowering will not make it ride worse if you use the correct components. You can use drop control arms or spindles in the front and keep the same ride. In the rear you can remove the block and put some shackles and it'll be the same as factory.

My suggestion is to just the level drop and see how you like it. If you're content and want a little more, instead of the 3/5 drop, try the 2/4 drop. I have the Belltech kit w/the nitrogen shocks as well and I'm digging the ride. Definitely a change. I'm also running with 20's. Along with the 2/4 drop kit consider the drive shaft alignment kit.. it will help reduce the amount of vibration from the drive shaft at higher ecelerations.

3/5 wont cover the gap, you will have to go to a 4/7 for that. The problem is to close that gap you will have to drop it alot and on these new trucks that puts the frame really close to the ground...more than 99-06 trucks. 3/5 on these trucks is considered mild...lol

heres a couple pics of mine.
