well theres a few diff ways to do it, and then it depends on if you have bose and/or onstar.

Metra makes the vehicle specific harness, roughly looking at $100. Will keep your chimes, RAP, and onstar/bose if you have it.

Other wise there is another harness you can buy, I cant recall the part number. You will lose chimes, onstar, cannot use it if you have bose and you'll have to run your own accessory wire.

you can always give metra a call, cant think of their hours right now. Just tell them what you have, they'll probabaly give you a GMOS-01 or similar part #, thats the $100 one, if you dont care to lose all that **** just ask them for the other harness that doesnt retain all that stuff. 800-253-8324

if you want the chimes you might as well just buy the right harness the first time, cheaper in the long run. Any car audio shop, as well as circuit city or best buy if you dont have a local shop should have the harness. If they carry metra its going to be part # GMOS-01. You'll also need an antenna adaptor and dash kit if you dont already have those/didnt know.

yeah you still need a dash kit, theres a little area around the headunit that would be bare, and you really wouldnt have anything to mount to.

antenna adaptor is # 40GM10
the dash kit metra calls for is # 99-2003, it doesnt seem right though. I thought they just made a small trim plate for when using a double-din. I'd just go to a stereo shop. If they use metra you can save them some time by having those other part numbers, but you'll just have to tell them what your truck is, whats going in it.
